Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has vowed to ensure there are no disruptions in the administration of state affairs after President Yoon Suk Yeol's botched martial law declaration.
In a televised statement on Sunday, the prime minister said that the government will make its all-out efforts to swiftly deal with the aftermath of the martial law chaos in accordance with the wishes of the people.
In the statement following the failed parliamentary passage of Yoon's impeachment motion on Saturday, the prime minister stressed that maintaining the country's alliance with the United States and trilateral cooperation with the U.S. and Japan solidly is a very important and significant task.
The prime minister added the entire Cabinet will do its utmost to maintain trust with the United States, Japan and other allies.
Han called for a swift parliamentary passage of the government's budget plan for next year, saying that the passage is essential for the government to continue to function normally even during the emergency.
The prime minister said that the government will humble itself first and seek cooperation from the National Assembly, expressing hope that rival parties will operate the Assembly through cooperation under the leadership of Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik.
