The main opposition Democratic Party(DP) plans to reintroduce its motion to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol and put it to a vote in a parliamentary session this week.
DP floor spokesperson Kang Yu-jung announced the plan Sunday after a meeting of DP lawmakers at the National Assembly.
The spokesperson said the party will report the new motion to a plenary session of the Assembly on Thursday and put it to a vote Saturday.
Kang said that if the Assembly fails to pass the motion, the party will continue to reintroduce it every week.
The motion to impeach Yoon for last week’s martial law order was scrapped Saturday, after his ruling party defended the embattled leader by refusing to vote.
Meanwhile, the DP plans to report motions to impeach Justice Minister Park Sung-jae and National Police Agency Commissioner General Cho Ji-ho to a plenary parliamentary session Tuesday and put them to a vote Thursday.
The DP will also propose bills on Monday to appoint special counsels to investigate Yoon for treason and first lady Kim Keon-hee in connection with various allegations.
