Ruling People Power Party(PPP) floor leader Choo Kyung-ho has reiterated his intention to resign, even after the party decided to support him as floor leader in a confidence vote on Monday. 

In a statement sent to party lawmakers on Monday, Choo said his intention to resign is firm and urged the party to swiftly launch the process of electing a new floor leader. 

Choo then called on the PPP lawmakers to gather all their strength and wisdom around the party leader, adding that he would join in the process.

Choo initially announced his plans to resign during a general meeting of party lawmakers on Saturday, after the National Assembly scrapped a motion to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol.

Later, the party tabled a motion to decide whether to support Choo as the floor leader and reportedly indicated confidence in him by a show of hands.
