Progressive groups led by one of the nation's major umbrella unions, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions(KCTU), staged a candlelight rally in front of the National Assembly, calling to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol after his martial law declaration.

The KCTU intends to hold the rally at the same location every day from now on.

A civic group, whose name is roughly translated into English as "Candle Act" or "Candle Move" plans to hold a candlelight event near the Assembly starting at 7 p.m.

Conservative groups, including the Liberty Unification Party, staged a rally in Seoul's Gwanghwamun area Monday afternoon, calling to eradicate "pro-North Korea" forces and to protect the free Republic of Korea.

These groups also plan to hold the rally on a daily basis to protest the opposition's push to impeach Yoon through Saturday.
