The special police investigation team looking into President Yoon Suk Yeol’s recent martial law move has imposed travel bans on five key military and police officials.
The team said Tuesday that these officials are banned from leaving the country: Cho Ji-ho, head of the Korean National Police Agency; Kim Bong-sik, commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency; Mok Hyun-tae, head of the National Assembly Police Guards; Lee Jin-woo, chief of the Capital Defense Command; and Kwak Jong-geun, former Army special warfare commander.
According to the team, the move was implemented through the justice ministry at 8 p.m. Monday.
The team said it also asked the defense ministry and military intelligence commands to swiftly present materials on any deployments of their members when the country was under martial law.
The affected commands include the Defense Counterintelligence Command, the Capital Defense Command, the Army Special Warfare Command, the Cyber Operations Command and the Korea Defense Intelligence Command.
