The ruling People Power Party(PPP) has drafted an “early exit” plan for President Yoon Suk Yeol that could see him step down in February or March next year. 

Sources who attended an emergency general meeting of lawmakers said on Tuesday that a PPP task force presented the plan at the meeting after reporting it to party leader Han Dong-hoon.

The task force said it is considering two options: Yoon’s resignation in February followed by an April election or a March resignation followed by a May election.

Under the Constitution, a presidential election must be held within 60 days after the president vacates office.

Lee Yang-soo, the head of the task force, reportedly said the party must finalize its plan this week and prepare for the extraordinary session on Saturday, when the National Assembly is set to vote on another impeachment motion for the president.
