Diplomatic officials from South Korea, the United States and Japan reaffirmed a resolve to cooperate in handling issues pertaining to the Indo-Pacific region.

The three sides made the statement at the Second Indo-Pacific Dialogue in Tokyo on Wednesday, led by special envoy Chung Eui-hae, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Kritenbrink and Yasuhiro Kobe, a director-general from Japan's foreign ministry.

The three sides agreed on the need to seek ways to jointly contribute toward regional peace and prosperity in consideration of the strategic importance of and economic dynamics in the Indo-Pacific region.

They discussed cooperation in enhancing capacity building in marine security, South Korea's chairing of the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC) forum, and supporting development in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Island countries.

The South Korean envoy stressed the need to sustain trilateral cooperation in dealing with traditional, emerging and economic security.
