Teams probing the December 3 martial law decree, from the police, the high-ranking official anti-corruption agency and the military will conduct a cooperative investigation.

The National Office of Investigation(NOI) under the police agency said on Wednesday that it decided to work together with the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials(CIO) and the defense ministry for a prompt and efficient probe.

The joint team is expected to cooperate based on the NOI's investigative experience and capacity, the CIO's legal expertise and right to seek warrants and the ministry's military expertise, while circumventing an overlap in investigation.

The NOI said the new team is expected to conduct a swift and thorough investigation regardless of rank to get to the bottom of allegations surrounding last week's aborted martial law declaration.

The prosecution is currently conducting its own investigation into the case along with military prosecutors.
