President Yoon Suk Yeol reportedly ordered the national police commissioner to arrest lawmakers and others when he declared martial law last Tuesday night.

According to Yonhap News on Friday, Cho Ji-ho, the commissioner of the Korean National Police Agency, made the claim during a recent probe.

The news agency said Cho testified that Yoon called him six times last Tuesday night and issued orders to arrest lawmakers, saying that they violated martial law.

The police commissioner reportedly claimed that he decided Yoon’s order was unreasonable and ignored it without conveying it to his aides.

Hong Jang-won, former first deputy director of the National Intelligence Service(NIS), also made a similar claim earlier, saying that Yoon directly instructed him to “round up everyone” and that the Counterintelligence Command provided a specific list of the targets.
