Main opposition Democratic Party chief Lee Jae-myung said President Yoon Suk Yeol’s impeachment has proven that the people are the owners of the nation. 

Speaking at a rally attended by the leaders of five opposition parties after the impeachment motion passed, Lee said he would like to thank the people and to congratulate them for achieving victory in the first round of battle. 

He cautioned, however, that they have only climbed a small hill so far and that a bigger and rougher mountain lies ahead.

He said the ruling camp is scheming to go back to a country where it is in charge, rather than being answerable to the people, calling on his supporters to fight to achieve the president’s expulsion in the shortest time possible.
