Acting President Han Duck-soo has vowed to make every effort to manage state affairs stably in accordance with the Constitution and laws for the country and the people.

Han made the pledge in a statement to the nation at the government complex in Seoul on Saturday evening, hours after the National Assembly passed a motion to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol over his December 3 martial law decree.

Han said that as the prime minister, he feels a heavy responsibility for the current situation, offering a sincere apology to the people.

The acting president then stressed that there must be no disruptions in state affairs, saying that the government will do its best to minimize the impact of the current situation on people's lives.

Han added that the government will establish strong security readiness and do all that it can to maintain trust with the United States, Japan and other allies.
