Ukrainian military intelligence has reported that combined Russian and North Korean units are estimated to have lost approximately 200 soldiers after North Korean soldiers were deployed in the Kursk region.
The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine(DIU) said on its website Saturday that airborne and marine units composed of North Korean and Russian troops suffered fatal and irrecoverable losses due to an attack by Ukrainian forces.
The agency estimated the combined deaths at around 200, but did not mention the portion of North Korean soldiers.
Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelenskyy also said on Saturday that Russia had begun using North Korean troops in “significant numbers” in the Kursk region, but did not mention specific figures.
Claims of Russia's active use of North Korean soldiers in assaults are coming from Russia as well.
Russian military bloggers reported that North Korean troops are performing well on the battlefield, capturing a village from Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region.
