The joint investigative team probing President Yoon Suk Yeol’s short-lived martial law declaration has called on Yoon to appear for questioning on Wednesday.
The joint team, comprising the police, the defense ministry's investigation unit, and the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials(CIO), revealed on Monday its plan to deliver the summons to Yoon.
According to an official from the team, investigators arrived at the Yongsan Presidential Compound at around 11 a.m., but the top office refused to receive the summons, citing Yoon's suspension of duties.
The official explained that the presidential secretary's office claimed that they could not determine whether delivering the summons during the president's suspension of duties was within the scope of the secretary's duties.
Meanwhile, the special probe team from the National Office of Investigation under the police agency announced that it had transferred investigations related to President Yoon to the CIO at around 9 a.m. Monday, including the right to apply for an arrest warrant.
