The Constitutional Court has launched proceedings for a trial on the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol, including assigning the presiding judge.

The top court’s Director General for Public Information Office Lee Jin said in a press conference on Monday that the court has set 2 p.m. next Friday for the first pre-trial conference for Yoon’s case.

The announcement came a few hours after the six justices of the court convened a meeting to discuss schedules for proceedings.

The court also decided to create a task force of rapporteur judges to place top priority on Yoon’s case.

The court, however, stopped short of elaborating which justice was assigned to be the presiding judge.
