A team from the National Office of Investigation(NOI) under the police agency probing the December 3 martial law decree began questioning former Interior Minister Lee Sang-min Monday afternoon.

This is the first time the former minister has attended an interrogation by the joint team comprising the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials(CIO) and the defense ministry.

Lee is suspected of plotting and supporting the short-lived martial law declared by President Yoon Suk Yeol.

The former minister was also one of the attendees at a Cabinet meeting that preceded the declaration.

Lee claimed during a parliamentary committee session two days after the martial law incident that Yoon had exercised his constitutional right and that the emergency martial law declaration was an act of governance.
