The government will convene a provisional Cabinet meeting this week to decide whether to request the National Assembly to reconsider a package of six opposition-passed bills, including one on requiring the government to buy surplus rice.
According to an official at the Prime Minister's Office on Monday, the package of bills are not expected to be submitted to a Cabinet meeting scheduled for Tuesday to allow a sufficient deliberation and discussion.
The official said the government intends to communicate with parliament to make decisions for the nation's future in line with the Constitution and the law.
The official said the request for reconsideration will be decided this week after listening to opinions from the ruling and opposition parties.
The opposition unilaterally approved the bills concerning grain management, distribution and price stability of agricultural and fisheries products, and others through parliament on November 28.
They were sent to the government on December 6, and the deadline for the government's reconsideration request falls on Saturday.
