The police have requested a pretrial detention warrant for a former chief of the Defense Intelligence Command as part of an investigation into President Yoon Suk Yeol’s botched attempt to impose martial law.

The police special investigation team said Tuesday that it filed the request with a court, accusing Noh Sang-won of treason and other offenses.

Noh, who served as the head of the Defense Intelligence Command under the Park Geun-hye government, is suspected of participating in preparations for martial law as a civilian in support of former defense minister Kim Yong-hyun.

Considered close to Kim, Noh is also suspected of drafting the martial law decree.

Noh was taken into police custody on Sunday along with Moon Sang-ho, the current intelligence commander, under an emergency arrest procedure.
