Army Chief of Staff Park An-su, who served as the martial law commander when President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law on December 3, has been detained.

According to the prosecution’s special team looking into Yoon’s botched attempt to impose martial law, a pretrial detention warrant was issued for Park on Tuesday on allegations that he played a significant role in treason and abuse of power.

Shortly after Yoon declared martial law, Park issued a military decree banning all political activities.

Prosecutors requested the warrant for Park on Monday, a day after questioning him as a suspect.

With Park’s detention, the prosecution has now taken into custody five top officials who were in command of the martial law forces on December 3.
