Evidence has emerged that the Korea Defense Intelligence Command(KDIC) prepared live ammunition less than five hours before martial law began.

According to records of ammunition receipts submitted by the KDIC to main opposition Democratic Party lawmaker Choo Mi-ae, a member of the National Assembly’s Defense Committee, the command received ten K-5 pistols and 100 rounds of ammunition at 5:53 p.m. on December 3 and stored them in its weapons storage locker.

President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law at 10:23 p.m. that night.

The lawmaker said the pistols and ammunition were issued to the troops at 8:02 p.m., and that they took the firearms and ammunition when they were deployed to the National Election Commission’s headquarters.

Choo said the distribution of firearms and ammunition hours before martial law is proof of an insurrection and called for a thorough investigation.
