Prosecutors probing the December 3 martial law raided offices of the National Office of Investigation(NOI) under the police, the Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station and the defense ministry regarding personnel sent to arrest a group of lawmakers under martial law.

The raid on Thursday comes amid allegations that the NOI dispatched homicide detectives upon a request from the Defense Counterintelligence Command.

According to the prosecution's team, it has verified that the counterintelligence agency made contact with an official from the NOI on the night of the martial law, while questioning those involved, including the Yeongdeungpo police chief and a senior superintendent general at the NOI.

While it acknowledged that one of its officials had received such a request and provided a list of ten detectives, the NOI did not verify whether it had actually sent them to the National Assembly.

The defense ministry's probe team, for its part, is alleged to have deployed ten investigators upon a similar request from then-martial law command's joint investigation headquarters.

The raid follows tensions between the prosecution and a cooperative team among the NOI, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials(CIO) and the defense ministry over taking the lead on the investigation into alleged treason during martial law.
