Heavy snow is in the forecast for Saturday, mainly in the country’s central region, and the interior ministry is urging the responsible agencies to undertake thorough preparations.

The ministry made the announcement Friday as the Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that snow on the west coast will likely spread nationwide by Saturday.

Some regions, including the central part of the country, are expected to receive up to ten centimeters of snow.

The ministry has instructed authorities to monitor real-time weather conditions and implement proactive emergency response systems.

It has also requested the continual monitoring of vulnerable facilities and called for snow removal vehicles to act quickly to spray roads with de-icing agents.
