President Yoon Suk Yeol is unlikely to appear before investigative authorities on Wednesday for questioning over his December 3 martial law decree.

Seok Dong-hyeon, a legal adviser to Yoon, told reporters on Tuesday that the president is unlikely to appear for questioning.

Seok said Yoon thinks his impeachment trial at the Constitutional Court comes first, adding it is a priority for him to explain his position to the Constitutional Court judges and the people.

He said that Yoon will comply with investigative procedures when the time comes.

Asked if Yoon will submit the martial law decree and minutes of a Cabinet meeting held prior to the martial law declaration by Tuesday as demanded by the Constitutional Court, Seok said he believes Yoon's legal team will issue a position after Christmas.

A joint probe team comprising the police, the defense ministry and the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials(CIO) earlier sent a second request asking Yoon to appear for questioning at the CIO office in Gwacheon by 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Christmas Day.

The team made multiple attempts to deliver the summons to Yoon, but they were all rejected.
