Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces(SOF) disclosed on Tuesday a letter found on the body of a North Korean soldier they killed in Russia’s Kursk region.

Dated December 9 and written in Korean with a pen, the letter said it wishes a happy birthday to comrade Song Ji-myong.

The letter presumably was meant to be sent as the SOF said the name that appeared to be “Jong Kyong-hong” was on the passport of the deceased North Korean soldier.

The discovery comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said earlier on Monday in a social media post that over three-thousand North Korean soldiers have been killed or wounded fighting against Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region.
