Rival camps continued to clash on Christmas Day on Wednesday over promulgating two special counsel bills targeting President Yoon Suk Yeol and first lady Kim Keon-hee and over ousting Acting President Han Duck-soo.
Appearing on a local radio program, the senior deputy floor leader of the main opposition Democratic Party(DP), Park Sung-joon, said his party will submit a motion to impeach Han if he fails to promptly appoint the three Constitutional Court justice nominees even after motions for their appointment are passed at a plenary session on Thursday.
DP spokesperson Han Min-soo said on another local radio program that Han has requested for rival camps to produce a solution to the special counsel bills and the appointments of Constitutional Court justices, in an attempt to delay related investigations and the Constitutional Court’s deliberation efforts.
In response, the chief spokesperson for the ruling People Power Party, Kim Dai-sik, said on a KBS radio program that the DP is engaging in what he termed as “legislative dictatorship and violence.”
Kim said the DP seems intent on annihilating the ruling camp, adding that the DP is moving too hastily even though there is plenty of time.
