The ruling People Power Party(PPP) has decided to boycott a parliamentary vote on motions for the appointment of three Constitutional Court justices.

PPP floor leader and acting chair Kweon Seong-dong announced the decision on Thursday after a meeting of party lawmakers, saying that the lawmakers unanimously agreed on the decision.

Kweon reiterated the party’s stance that Acting President Han Duck-soo lacks the authority to appoint Constitutional Court justices. He noted that the PPP had also boycotted the confirmation hearings for the three nominees.

When asked whether the PPP plans to take legal action if the motions pass in a parliamentary plenary session, Kweon said that the party has no such plans, as it does not believe Han has the authority to make the appointments.
