The Prime Minister’s Secretariat has dismissed former defense minister Kim Yong-hyun’s claims that Acting President Han Duck-soo was briefed in advance of President Yoon Suk Yeol’s plan to declare martial law on December 3.

In a statement released on Thursday, the secretariat said Han had not received any briefing on the incident until he heard about the plan directly from the president at around 9 p.m. on December 3 at the presidential office.

The office noted that Han had given such testimony a number of times before the National Assembly.

The secretariat then stressed that it will take all steps, including legal measures, to counter false information regarding Han.

The statement comes after Kim’s lawyers claimed earlier in the day that Kim had briefed Han beforehand on the martial law declaration plan before recommending related procedures to the president.
