South Korea's benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) dropped below the two-thousand-400 threshold on Friday, marking a significant decline driven by adverse market conditions.

The KOSPI fell 33-point-92 points, or one-point-four percent, to reach two-thousand-395-point-75 as of 11:18 a.m. Friday.

This marks the first time in four trading days that the index has plummeted below the two-thousand-400 level.

The KOSPI's drop comes amid heightened tensions surrounding the impeachment motion against Acting President Han Duck-soo coupled with a surging won-dollar exchange rate.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ index also suffered losses at the same time as the KOSPI, dropping eight-point-four-one points, or one-point-two-four percent, to six-hundred-67-point-23.
