The government says it will quickly prepare response measures for a super-aged society, which includes a road map for each sector.

According to Joo Hyung-hwan, vice chairman of the Presidential Committee on Aging Society and Population Policy on Friday during a population emergency response meeting, there's not much time left considering the "unprecedented and faster-than-expected global aging."

Joo cited experts who pointed out that the "golden time" for policy response measures for the quickly aging society is within the next five to ten years, stressing the need to prepare policies quickly.

The vice chairman said the country is starting to see a reversal in trend, as the number of births in October exceeded 20 thousand, marking a four-month consecutive increase.

According to the interior ministry on Monday, South Korea officially became a super-aged society, as the proportion of people aged 65 and over in the country's registered population exceeded 20 percent for the first time.
