The ruling People Power Party(PPP) claimed that the opposition-led parliament's impeachment of Prime Minister Han Duck-soo on Friday is "null and void."
In a statement on Saturday, PPP floor spokesperson Seo Ji-young said Han's impeachment has failed to meet the requirement and quorum amid the opposition's hasty push for impeachment.
The PPP strongly denounced the main opposition Democratic Party's(DP) attempts toward the government's collapse.
Seo criticized National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik for applying a lower quorum for the impeachment of Prime Minister Han, which classified him as a cabinet member instead of acting president. She said this has paved the way to debilitate the administration and undermine the separation of legal, executive, and judicial powers.
The spokesperson said the DP will have to take sole responsibility for greater economic uncertainties, including a decline in foreign investment and weakened domestic economy, due to its series of unjustified impeachments.
