The Foreign Ministry said on Sunday that it is trying to confirm if two Thai passengers are safe in the plane crash at Muan International Airport.

A ministry official said that the ministry has yet to receive a report on the status of the two Thai nationals, adding the government will communicate with the Thai Embassy in Seoul as soon as it secures the information.

The official said that it is waiting for a related notice from the authorities at the site of the accident.

A Jeju Air plane carrying 175 passengers, including two Thai nationals and six flight attendants, crashed while landing at the airport, killing at least 62 people.

The ministry is reportedly sending officials to the crash site if necessary.

The official said that the ministry will take necessary steps if the Thai Embassy makes the request.
