The Defense Ministry said it has mobilized about 180 military personnel, firefighting trucks and ambulances to deal with a plane crash that caused heavy casualties at Muan International Airport.

The Defense Ministry said on Sunday that it has convened an emergency response team and set up disaster response headquarters to deal with the aftermath of the deadly crash.

The ministry said that it is working to identify the medical support and rescue personnel needed from the military and is taking the necessary steps to quickly provide support.

Military helicopters and other resources are also on standby to be deployed immediately when needed.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) also said the Defense Ministry and the JCS are providing all available resources in close cooperation with related ministries.
