The presidential office has decided to maintain a round-the-clock emergency response posture for the Muan plane crash, centered on the office of the secretary to the president for state affairs monitoring.

The top office said the decision was reached during an emergency meeting on Sunday, chaired by presidential chief of staff Chung Jin-suk and attended by senior presidential secretaries.

The top office said participants vowed thorough efforts to shed light on what caused the plane to go down and discussed ways for related agencies to cooperate and adjust duties to maximize the effectiveness of the response system.

The office said that in briefing acting President Choi Sang-mok on the results of the meeting, it proposed that Choi chair an emergency meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.
