Jeju Air says it will proceed with funeral arrangements for the 179 victims killed in one of its planes on Sunday in accordance with the families’ wishes. 

The head of Jeju Air’s management support office, Song Kyung-hoon, said in a briefing in Seoul on Monday that in arranging the funerals, the airline will respect the bereaved families’ wishes regarding methods and procedures. 

On paying out insurance claims, Song said related reinsurers entered the nation late Sunday, adding that the airline will make arrangements with the reinsurers on claims payout methods.  

He said once funeral procedures are concluded, his company will pursue negotiations on insurance processing at the families’ request. 

Song said Jeju Air will treat the bereaved families with the utmost respect when negotiating not only funeral preparations but also insurance payouts.
