The Presidential Security Service says it will provide protection measures for President Yoon Suk Yeol in the event investigators take action to arrest him.

Shortly after a Seoul court issued a warrant to arrest Yoon on Tuesday, his secret service released a media statement, pledging to observe related laws in taking security measures.

The court granted the warrant Tuesday in response to a request filed the previous day by a joint team of investigators from the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials, the police and the defense ministry.

This the first time an arrest warrant has been issued for a sitting president.
