President Yoon Suk Yeol’s defense team plans to file for a Constitutional Court injunction to suspend the validity of an arrest warrant for the president, who is under investigation and could potentially face treason charges over his December 3 martial law decree.

One of the lawyers, Yun Gap-geun, said Tuesday that the defense team also intends to seek the Constitutional Court’s adjudication on jurisdictional disputes regarding the arrest warrant.

The Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials(CIO) sought the warrant at 12 a.m. Monday after the president failed to respond to three summonses, and the Seoul Western District Court issued it Tuesday morning.

The president’s defense team has disputed the validity of the warrant, arguing that the CIO has no authority to investigate treason cases.
