The chief of the anti-corruption agency in charge of investigating President Yoon Suk Yeol regarding his December 3 martial law decree vowed to execute an arrest warrant against the president within its validity, which ends on January 6.

Speaking to reporters on his way to work on Wednesday, Chief of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials(CIO) Oh Dong-woon said the Office will exercise its authority on arrest and search warrants according to principle, adding it is coordinating the specific timing with the joint investigation team.

The CIO chief called on the Presidential Security Service to comply with the agency's law enforcement, warning that if the security office does not open the door to the residence, it would be considered an obstruction of justice.

Oh said that the CIO had sent an official notice to the security service the previous day, warning them that abuse of power and obstruction of justice could lead to criminal charges.

The legal team for Yoon, who became the first sitting South Korean president to be issued an arrest warrant, has called the warrant "illegal," and has filed for an injunction to suspend its validity.
