All senior secretaries and key aides in the presidential office offered their resignation on Wednesday to Acting President Choi Sang-mok.

According to the presidential office, presidential chief of staff Chung Jin-suk,  National Security Adviser Shin Won-sik, chief of staff for policy Sung Tae-yoon, and foreign policy adviser Chang Ho-jin all submitted their resignations to the acting president.

The mass resignation comes as Acting President Choi appointed two Constitutional Court justices despite opposition from the top office.

Choi office released a statement saying that the acting president has no plans to accept their resignations.

The presidential office had expressed its opposition to the appointment of the justices leading up to Tuesday's Cabinet meeting and voiced regret after Choi's appointment.

The presidential aides had previously submitted their collective resignations on December 4, the day after President Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of emergency martial law, but Yoon did not accept their resignations.
