The White House is reportedly seeking to renegotiate the U.S. CHIPS and Science Act awards and has signaled delays to some semiconductor disbursements.

Reuters issued the report Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

The sources reportedly said the new Trump administration is reviewing the projects awarded under the 2022 law, which was designed to increase domestic semiconductor production with subsidies.

The sources said the U.S. plans to renegotiate some of the deals after assessing and changing current requirements, but that the extent of the possible changes, and how they will affect agreements already finalized, was not immediately clear.

Reuters said four sources with knowledge of the discussions said the White House is concerned about many of the terms of the subsidies.
