Police have raided the headquarters of local builder POSCO E&C and other locations as part of its investigation into a recent accident that has left a worker unconscious for more than a week.

The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency’s team investigating the accident said Tuesday that it launched search and seizure operations at the company’s headquarters in Incheon, as well as the offices of two subcontractors.

About 70 police officers and labor inspectors are taking part in the raid.

On Monday last week, a Myanmar national in his 30s was checking a water pump at an expressway construction site in Gwangmyeong, southwest of Seoul, when he apparently suffered an electric shock.

He has yet to regain consciousness.

The police plan to closely examine whether proper safety measures were implemented.
