Morning Downpours in Central Region, Scorching Heat in the South

Heavy rain will continue across the central region until Thursday morning before easing or stopping in many areas in the afternoon.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on Thursday, heavy downpours of around 30 millimeters per hour are forecast for parts of the central region in the morning, including Seoul and the surrounding area.

The capital region is expected to receive up to 150 millimeters of rain, while inland parts of central and northern Gangwon Province are likely to see up to 120 millimeters.

Southern locations and Jeju Island are forecast to see cloudy skies at times, with some areas seeing showers in the afternoon.

Daytime highs on Thursday are expected to range from 28 to 34 degrees Celsius nationwide, similar to or slightly higher than the previous day’s highs.

Temperatures in Gwangju and Daegu are forecast to rise to 34 degrees, with a heat advisory in place for the southern part of the country.
