The International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) has reportedly identified a new building, suspected to be a uranium enrichment facility, at North Korea’s Yongbyon Nuclear Complex.

According to Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun daily on Wednesday, the IAEA revealed the information in its Monday report after analyzing satellite imagery and related information over the past year.

The IAEA report said construction of the new facility began in December of last year and was completed by May of this year.

The nuclear watchdog said the facility appears similar to North Korea’s uranium enrichment facility in Kangson, near Pyongyang, warning that North Korea could expand its uranium enrichment activities using the new facility.

The IAEA expressed serious concern over the development and emphasized that it will continue its monitoring and verification efforts.
