Kim Yu-na Regains Top Ranking

South Korean figure skater Kim Yu-na has regained the world’s top ranking, following her record-breaking win at the season's first event at the Trophee Bompard in Paris.

Kim thrashed the competition on Saturday at Bompard, as she set a new world record with a score of 210.03 in the women’s free skate. In doing so, she broke her own record of 207.71 put up in March.

The International Skating Union (ISU) released the updated world rankings on its Web site Monday, with Kim leading the way in the women's singles category at 3,960 points, 99 points more than second-ranked skater Carolina Kostner of Italy.

Kim had held the top ranking in March, but then slid into second before shooting back to number one following her win at Bompard.

Japan's Mao Asada ranks third in the world with 3,779 points.
