Love Thermometer Fails to Reach 100 Degrees

The charity group Community Chest of Korea's "love thermometer" has failed to surpass the 100 degrees mark for the first time in 12 years.

The fundraiser’s love thermometer increases by one degree whenever one percent of the targeted amount is collected from December first to January 31st.

The charity group said Wednesday that during its donation collection period, it has accumulated about 211 billion won, which equates to 94-point-two degrees Celsius on the thermometer.

The figure is much lower than this year's target amount of 224 billion won and last year's amount.

Until now, the thermometer has always surpassed 100 degrees since it first launched in 1999.

The drop in donations is attributed to a scandal regarding the charity group.
