S. Korea, Germany Sign MOU on Military Supply

South Korea and Germany have laid the groundwork for bilateral cooperation on material supply during various military operations, including peacekeeping operations(PKO).

The Ministry of National Defense said Monday that the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding(MOU) in Berlin on the military supply cooperation. The ministry’s director general for the Logistics Management Bureau and a senior official at the German defense ministry's policy bureau represented each country during the MOU signing ceremony.

The agreement stipulated by the MOU focuses on deepening and developing cooperative and friendly relations between South Korea and Germany.

Specifically, it is aimed at expanding cooperation in military supply for peacekeeping operations and rescue projects and sharing experiences on innovating military supply systems.

The South Korean defense ministry expected the MOU will improve the country's military operation capabilities by enhancing its supply capacity for various undertakings it will participate in together with Germany.

The ministry has signed similar agreements on military supply with 15 countries, including the U.S. The ministry said it plans to further expand such cooperation with its allies.
