U.S. President-elect Joe Biden paid tribute to COVID-19 victims on the eve of his inauguration.

Biden attended on Tuesday a memorial for COVID-19 victims at the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial, which was his first stop in Washington where he'll be inaugurated on Wednesday, U.S time.

He said though it’s hard sometimes to remember, that is how people heal, adding that it's important to do that as a nation.

Similar ceremonies were held on Tuesday at other landmarks in the U.S. to remember those who have lost their lives to the coronavirus pandemic.

The U.S. has recorded more COVID-19 cases and deaths than any other country in the world. According to Worldometer, a website that provides real-time statistics for the pandemic, the U.S. saw its COVID-19 death toll reach around 411-thousand as of Tuesday.
