Business sentiment among domestic firms has slightly improved this month.

According to the Bank of Korea on Thursday, the Business Survey Index(BSI) for all industries stood at 71 in April, up two points from the previous month.

The index edged up for the second consecutive month after falling to 68 in February, the lowest figure in three years and five months since September 2020.

A reading below 100 means pessimists outnumber optimists.

The BSI for manufacturers also gained two points month-on-month to reach 73 in April, posting growth for the second straight month to hit a ten-month high.

The index for non-manufacturing industries, which includes restaurants, wholesalers and retail businesses, edged up one point month-on-month to 69.

Meanwhile, local firms' business outlook for May marked 73, up two points from the previous month.
