Seoul Zoo Reveals Rhino Died from Heart Attack

Seoul Grand Park Zoo has revealed a male white rhino died last year from a heart attack after escaping from its cage.

The zoo says a door was left open on the rhino's cage, and it ran into a kitchen and tool storage room.

Zoo caretakers used water guns to try to tame the rhino as it banged against the walls of the small room.

The zoo said it did not separately notify the authorities about the escape because the rhino did not leave the grounds of the zoo. It said it did tell the Environment Ministry about the incident last October because the animal was a rare species.

This incident raises more doubts about the safety management at the zoo where a Siberian tiger bit and mauled a caretaker last month.
