New COVID-19 cases remained in the 20-thousand range for a second day amid a slowdown in the latest wave of the pandemic.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said on Friday that 27-thousand-408 infections were reported throughout the previous day, including 94 imported cases, bringing the country's cumulative caseload to nearly 29 million-955-thousand.

The daily figure dropped by about 24-hundred from a day ago and some 12-thousand from a week ago. Compared to two weeks ago, the tally more than halved.

For a Friday tally, it is the lowest in 13 weeks since October 21.

The number of seriously or critically ill patients is down by 12 from a day ago to 453.

Thursday added 30 deaths, raising the cumulative toll to 33-thousand-134. The fatality rate stands at zero-point-11 percent.
