New COVID-19 cases rose above 30-thousand on Thursday, amid continuing signs of slowdown in the latest wave of infections.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said that 35-thousand-96 infections were reported throughout Wednesday, bringing the country's cumulative caseload to 30 million and some 75-thousand. Of the total cases, 34 were imported.

The daily tally rose by some 15-thousand from the previous day due to increased tests after the Lunar New Year holiday. The figure also rose by some five-thousand from a week earlier but dropped nearly nine-thousand from two weeks earlier.

The number of critically ill hospitalized patients has risen by seven from the previous day to 489.

Wednesday added 26 deaths, raising the death toll to 33-thousand-296. The overall fatality rate stands at zero-point-11 percent.
