New COVID-19 cases registered in the 12-thousands on Wednesday.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said on Wednesday that 12-thousand-798 infections were reported throughout Tuesday, including 12 from overseas, bringing the total caseload to around 30-million-594-thousand.

The figure is up by some 500 from both a day ago and a week ago, indicating that the decline is slowing down after the removal of the indoor mask mandate and the beginning of the new school year.

The number of critically ill patients under hospital care dropped by 19 from the previous day to 139.

Tuesday added 12 deaths, raising the death toll to 34-thousand-61. The overall fatality rate stands at zero-point-11 percent.
